McComber Ranch Bed and Breakfast

The photo shoot I did on Wednesday was actually two-fold.  We did the shoot at Jack and Sylvia McComber’s beautiful place not only because it is a great location, but because Emily (www.brokenspeardesigns) is working on a super cool website for the McComber’s to introduce their newest adventure – a fabulous Bed and Breakfast!  Sylvia, who is extremely talented when it comes to design and style, had transformed their guest house into an ultra cool ranch cottage with a retro vibe.

Broken Spear Designs

She is the sweetest friend in the world, and she is also talented, creative, and beautiful (I’m a little jealous :)!!).  So needless to say I was extremely excited when Emily called me and asked if I would do a little photo shoot of her for her website.  Emily is a graphic designer and she is currently updating her website, needed a few new pics, and so our day of fun ensued!  She is always full of great ideas and with Em it is always an adventure!!  Take a look at her website (www.brokenspeardesigns.com) and you’ll see what I mean.  Drop her a line, too, if you need any web, ad, or logo design.  She is a blast to work with, and her work is superb!

Emily has such an eye for style and is willing to try (and try on!!) anything!  I just hope these photos do her justice!

First Dance Class – Sort of!

•August 25, 2009 • 2 Comments

She was all stoked about her first dance class and was begging to wear a tutu, which we didn’t have, so she settled for the twirly pink skirt and white shirt and was ready to go.  She had an absolute ball even though it wasn’t exactly dance class.  It was more learn-to-follow-directions and let’s-get-some-coordination class.  They did things like clap the syllables in your name, and balance a bean bag on your finger, foot, and nose, then run around the room with your new found friend!  But for Alissa it was sheer fun, and when the class ended after a mere 30 minutes, she looks at me and says “What are we gonna do now, Mama?”!  So for the next 6 days I’ll be explaining to her that we can’t go back to “dance class” until next Monday!!

And because she is an In-Charge kind of gal, she headed straight for the teacher's chair!! Oops!!

The Sombrero and the Candy Man

•August 22, 2009 • 1 Comment

His name is Gaylord, but Alissa affectionately refers to him as the Candy Man.  She is a very literal gal, so it is quite obvious why she calls him by this moniker – he gives her droves of candy every time she sees him!!  It started out with a few pieces of chocolate and a sucker or two, then progressed to a shopping bag full of a wide assortment, then to not only a shopping bag full of tootsie rolls and the like, but a “prize”, too!  Well, the latest “prize” is the best so far according to my little darling – a sombrero (which she calls her pirate hat, and I have NO idea where that came from!!).  She really likes the “pretty sings (things)” on it  because, you know, they sparkle, and three year olds adore sparkles!  So thank you Candy Man for hours of entertainment and for making Alissa smile!

The Many Expressions of Logan!

•August 13, 2009 • 3 Comments

I’m sure I’m not alone when I admit that most days go by without me slowing down to stop and take part in my baby’s little world of joy and discovery.  My children are such blessings, yet all too often I’m distracted from them by the laundry, or the dishes, or a little work on the computer (or swatting flies these days – whew! I didn’t know so many could invade a house at once!!!).  But today as I plopped Logan in his high chair for a snack, I just watched him and all his expressions made me smile.  I hope they bring a smile to your face, too!!

The Mesa

•August 11, 2009 • Leave a Comment

This post is a long time in coming!  It seems like time has been getting away from me (where does it go?!!), but I just had to share this experience with you.  My two aunts from Texas brought my Grandma and my cousin to see us, and we went for a little adventure!  The north mesa was just calling us to come climb, so we obliged!

Thankfully, no one decided to play King of the Hill!

Marvin + Cecilia = Happily Ever After

•July 1, 2009 • 2 Comments

She is quiet and sweet, and the most adorable bride ever.  He is strong and caring, and together they make the perfect couple!  I was honored to photograph Marvin and Cecilia (aka Tim and Carmen!) at their lovely wedding at Marvin’s home in beautiful California.  It was a gorgeous ceremony that celebrated the beginning of a new life for the two of them.  A whole new life especially for Cecilia who only came to California three months ago from Peru!  Her family was precious and since Marvin is my cousin, it made this occasion extra special.  Here are a  few pictures from the big day!

Thank you for letting me capture your love and share this day with you!
